August 17, 2009 Zee Speed Zachary Smalls Dear Zachary and Zee Speed participants, I would like to sincerely thank all of the Zee Speed participants and Mr. Smalls for the generous donations of food and books to our Women’s Support Shelter. Your donations for our shelter clients are so very helpful as we strive to meet the needs of those escaping domestic violence. We are very thankful for this ongoing community partnership that betters the lives of everyone in our community. The food provides nourishment for the body and the books for the mind. Thanks for all of your support to keep our clients healthy in mind and body. The Women’s Support Shelter opened in 1976 as the first domestic violence shelter in Washington. The Shelter provides basic needs for women and children for up to 90 days, during which time these women and their families are encouraged to begin rebuilding their lives through individualized case management, education, counseling, support groups, children’s services and 24-hour on-site advocacy. For many, the Shelter and its related services form a sturdy base from which to start fresh, stable, safe, self-sufficient lives. Along with providing shelter, the YWCA provides several other related programs and services to the community. Our Racial Justice program offers community workshops, and builds collaborations with diverse populations. The Transitional Housing program offers affordable housing opportunities, case management, and support services to those rebuilding their lives free of domestic violence. Again, thank you for your continued support and we wish Zee Speed much continued success! In gratitude, Jennine Devenuti Volunteer and Resource Liaison
